Most mattresses in Singapore come in four local sizes, Single, Super Single, Queen and King, all 190cm long. Some brands also sell Japan sizes (195cm long) and UK sizes (200cm long), which fill the gaps between local sizes. Here is every size in one chart, plus how to pick the right one for your room and bed frame.

Singapore sizes (190cm long)
Single, 91 × 190cm. The smallest standard size. It suits young children and tight rooms, but most adults find it narrow.
Super Single, 107 × 190cm. One adult fits comfortably with room for pillows and a bolster. It’s the go-to size for children who will grow into the bed, guest rooms and study rooms.
Queen, 152 × 190cm. The standard choice for couples and most HDB master bedrooms. A single adult who likes to spread out will love it too.
King, 183 × 190cm. Two adults each get about the width of a Single (SG). It works well if one of you is a light sleeper, or if a young child often ends up in your bed.

Japan sizes (195cm long)
Japan sizes are 5cm longer than Singapore sizes and sit between them in width.
- Single (JP), 97 × 195cm: wider than a Single (SG), narrower than a Super Single.
- Semi Double (JP), 120 × 195cm: a roomy bed for one adult, 13cm wider than a Super Single.
- Double (JP), 140 × 195cm: fits two adults snugly, 12cm narrower than a Queen. Good for couples who need a bit more floor space.
Japan-size mattresses need Japan-size bed frames, such as the Aube wooden drawer storage bed or the Mica storage bed, which comes in both Singapore and Japan sizes. Browse Semi Double (JP) mattresses.
UK sizes (200cm long)
UK sizes add length, which helps if you are tall or like your feet fully on the bed.
- Semi Double (UK), 120 × 200cm
- Queen (UK), 150 × 200cm: 2cm narrower but 10cm longer than a Queen (SG)
- Super King (UK), 180 × 200cm: 3cm narrower but 10cm longer than a King (SG)
UK and Singapore sizes are not interchangeable even when the widths are close. A Queen (UK) mattress will hang 10cm past the end of a Queen (SG) bed frame. Shop UK Queen mattresses.
How to choose the right mattress size
- Measure the room first. Leave at least 60cm of walking space on the sides you use, and space for wardrobe doors and drawers to open.
- Count the sleepers. One adult: Super Single or Semi Double. Two adults: Queen at minimum, King if either of you sleeps lightly.
- Think ahead. A child moving out of a cot will use a Super Single for a decade. A couple planning for kids may prefer a King.
- Match the bed frame. Mattress and bed frame must be the same size system: Singapore with Singapore, Japan with Japan, UK with UK.
- Check the bed height. Your bed’s height is the bed frame base plus the mattress thickness. See our storage bed frame guide for how that works with storage beds.

FAQ
What is the most common mattress size in Singapore?
Queen (152 × 190cm) for master bedrooms and Super Single (107 × 190cm) for kids’ and guest rooms.
Is a Super Single bigger than a Single?
Yes. A Super Single is 107cm wide, 16cm wider than a Single (91cm). Both are 190cm long.
What is the difference between a Queen and a King in Singapore?
A King is 183cm wide and a Queen is 152cm wide, so a King gives you 31cm more width. Both are 190cm long.
Can I put a Japan or UK size mattress on a Singapore bed frame?
No. Japan sizes are 195cm long and UK sizes 200cm long, so they won’t sit properly on a 190cm Singapore frame. Choose a bed frame in the same size system as your mattress.
Which mattress size is best for a tall person?
A UK size (200cm long) or Japan size (195cm long) gives you extra length over Singapore’s 190cm.
